review: flore brunch
i am a huge fan of flore, the vegan restaurant in silver lake on sunset. their portabella panini, tacos de papas and “the salad” are to die for. they feature a cooler full of delicious desserts and deli-style dishes. the menu hosts a slew of raw and gluten-free items and best of all they serve some of the best brunch in town.
to start, they have fruit and vegetable juices, a variety of organic teas, espresso drinks or a simple cup of the house brew.
they have simple items like bagels and cream cheese & fruit and yogurt, but what i’m most impressed by is that their menu is a testament to all the different things you can do with tofu. i got the tofu scramble with avocado and the way they fried it up with mushrooms, tomatoes and onions was simple yet extremely satisfying.
we didn’t order it, but they make a mean vegan eggs benedict (the tofu benediction) with a crazy delicious hollandaise sauce. we ordered a side of it for dipping. highly recommended!
cameron got the breakfast burrito (photo at the top of this page) with a side of fresh fruit salad. the burrito is a whole wheat tortilla packed with the works: tofu, veggies and tempeh bacon. it’s definitely a hardy way to start off your morning.
too bad we couldn’t order one of everything. it’s all great!
