nutritious and delicious mango kale smoothie

i use to work at a smoothie bar, where i learned of the many things you can blend and/or juice into a drink.  you can blend whole lemons and limes, an avocado with the pit and pretty much any green leafy vegetable you can get your hands on.

if done right a smoothie can be like enjoying an entire meal through a straw.

nutritious and delicious mango kale smoothie
1 large mango
3 stocks of black kale
1/2 a small haas avocado
1 tsp fresh grated ginger (or more if you like it spicy)
about 2 and 1/2 c vanilla soy milk

the kale and avocado are really quite complimentary in this recipe.  the kale is rich in vitamin A, which is fat-soluble so it must be eaten with fats to be absorbed.  the avocado provides plenty of as healthy monounsaturated fat and omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.

the mango really provides the flavor and all of these ingredients have plenty of fiber to boot.

chop up your mango before hand and put the pieces in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.

once the mango is slightly frozen throw it in a blender with the kale, avocado and ginger.  pour the soy milk over the mixture until just covered, it should be about 4 cups.

blend and drink to your health!
